AGMEDICA is currently seeking a Cultivation Technician for their Chatham-Kent facility.  Reporting to the Head Grower, the Cultivation Technician will understand and effectively use cloning and cultivation techniques for cannabis production to enhance quality, safety and efficacy through all stages of the plant cloning/production-cycle

As Cultivation Technician, you will:

  • Always adhere to AGMEDICA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to obtain quality, efficacy and safety in all stages of the grow and cultivation process;
  • Daily, follow all federal, provincial, and municipal regulations for safety during all grow and cultivation operations;
  • Familiar with and follow the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulation (ACMPR);
  • Clonal propagation – take cuttings, transplant in rock wool, and maintain clones
  • Clone/prop agent husbandry; care for the newly cut clones
  • Mother selection from clones; selecting plants based off morphology
  • Barcode each cannabis plant, from the vegetative room to the final harvested bulk and dried cannabis products;
  • Ensure proper sanitation of equipment and production areas, activate fertilisation and irrigation systems as directed by Lead Growers;
  • Working with the growers, monitor all cannabis products, ensuring product is free from risk of contamination at all stages of cloning;
  • Familiar with pest and pathogen controls to treat for insects, disease, molds, and mildew;
  • Have foresight to recognize potential hazards, production problems and contamination risks; report findings and/or concerns to lead growers or designate;
  • Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance team, follow checks and balances for quality, efficacy, and safety; minimizing contamination and waste of product;
  • Working as a member of the cultivation team, perform safe and effective pet scouting, growing, pruning, harvesting of cannabis product;
  • Destroy plant debris and waste products; recording the data following the existing approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for destruction of product;
  • Document in the Batch Production Record (BPR) and associated forms for each cannabis lot. Follow and document clone, plant and product transfer across Vegetative, Growing, Flowering, Harvesting, and Drying rooms;

Position Requirements:

  • Post secondary Diploma in Agriculture/Horticulture and/or any other related discipline an asset.
  • 1-2 years experience in a cannabis, farming, vegetable, or nursery grow operation an asset.
  • Must be able to work at heights, under intense lighting, with strong odours, and in humid temperatures.
  • Must be bondable.

Title Processing Technician

AgMedica is currently seeking a Processing Technician for their Chatham-Kent facility. Reporting to the Processing Team Lead, you will be responsible for working in a large cutting-edge commercial grow facility, utilizing techniques that ensure quality, efficacy, and safety, adhering to all AgMedica Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Processing Technician will perform tasks in the cannabis grow, processing and packaging sequence, including harvesting, drying, sorting and packaging. Other duties may include supporting the grow team with irrigation and LED light monitoring, creating barriers for pest and pathogen infestation, and working as a cooperative member of the operations team.

As Processing Technician, you will:

  • Always adhere to AgMedica Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to obtain quality, efficacy and safety in all stages of the grow, processing, and packaging process;
  • Daily, follow all federal, provincial, and municipal regulations for safety during all grow, cultivation, and packaging operations;
  • Familiar with and follow the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulation (ACMPR);
  • Working with the production and processing teams, monitor all cannabis products;
  • Have foresight to recognize potential hazards, processing problems and contamination risks;
  • Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance team, follow checks and balances for quality, efficacy, and safety;
  • Working as a member of the production and processing teams, perform safe and effective harvesting, testing, trimming, extracting, weighing and packaging of cannabis product;
  • Destroy plant debris and waste products, recording data;
  • Document in the Batch Production Record (BPR) and associated forms for each cannabis lot;
  • Follow and apply appropriate control measures to prevent the combining of cannabis lots and batches;
  • Maintain a clean working environment, possessing an attitude of high standards of cleanliness;
  • Personal Protective Equipment must be worn;
  • Monitor inventory of growing, cultivation, and packaging supplies;
  • Verify packaging material is accurate and matched to specifications (labels, forms);
  • Ensure all aspects of the packaged product are compliant to specifications;

Position Requirements:

  • Post secondary in Agriculture/Horticulture and/or any other related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the cultivation of cannabis or other sensitive commercial crops is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate necessary comprehension of mathematics and the English language.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Must be able to work under intense lighting, with strong odours, and in humid temperatures.
  • Must be able to work in environments with the presence of pollen, molds, mildew, insects, and plant debris.

AgMedica is seeking a self-driven individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment to join our finance team as a full-time Finance Reporting Manager for our Chatham-Kent operations. Under the direction of the VP of Finance, and as a key member of the AgMedica Financial team, you will be accountable for managing and supporting a variety of financial responsibilities, including financial reporting and analysis. In collaboration with the financial cross-functional team, the Finance Reproting Manager will be responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. While abiding by company policies, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and following the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purpose Regulations; as well you will work with and lead the financial team in achieving financial performance, meeting budgetary and filing requirements, and ultimately increasing AgMedica’s financial position.

As Finance Reporting Manager, you will:

  • Carry out corporate accounting functions;
  • Develop, implement and evaluate corporate financial systems, assist in creating financial strategies that are aligned to overall enterprise direction;
  • Report on all financial operations and advise on corporate financial planning and structure;
  • Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance, projections and other special projects to Senior Management and Board of Directors as required;
  • Work with VP of Finance on preparing short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal executive management and external parties;
  • Prepare and lead audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firm’s performance;
  • Assist in the evaluation of and accounting for mergers and acquisitions;
  • Lead in the consolidation of the various entities that roll-up into AgMedica’s consolidated financial reporting package;
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting package to each operating unit, including presentation of financial statements and appropriate analysis of financial results;
  • Utilizing ERP system, deliver accurate financial reporting in an efficient and timely manner;
  • Work with Finance team in developing, implementing and maintaining finance policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting and other corporate policies;
  • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and pertinent International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Canadian Securities Administrators rules and regulations including C-SOX compliance (Bill 198);
  • Ensures compliance with federal, provincial and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advises senior management of actions and potential risks;
  • Assist in the preparation of public documents, including interim and annual financial statements, management discussion and analysis in addition to the Annual Report and Annual Information Circular;
  • Report on the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures;
  • Coordinate and work with Senior Finance team on finance activities across various departments and internationally.
  • Budgeting:
    • Manage the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts;
    • Report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances;
    • Assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Review and report on the performance of competitors and inform on key issues to management;
    • Engage in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement;
    • Interpret the company’s financial results to management and recommend improvement activities;
    • Participate in target costing activities to create products that meet predetermined price goals;
    • Compile key business metrics and report on them to management;
    • Create additional analyses and reports as requested by management.

Position Requirements:

  • Post Secondary in Business Administration: Masters in Business Administration or CPA designation required.
  • 3-5 years experience in a financial role, preference to individuals with public company, growth stage company and/or merger and acquisitions experience.
  • Experience in a financial role with a proven track record of achievement in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facilities is considered an asset.
  • Experience with consolidations and mergers and acquisition is an asset.
  • Experience with Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR & ED) is an asset.
  • Strong IT knowledge and skills, including superior use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
